The sculptural installation was created by István Csákány in collaboration with the cultural centre Stanica-Žilina Záriečie. Declaring the installation a monument and revitalising public street lighting are the project’s central ideas.
The lamp with a figurative sculpture represents a virtual meeting point where the ideologies and technologies of the past can encounter the present. The artwork enters into an ironic dialogue with megalomaniac practices as well as with the sculptural conventions of socialism.
This creative reactivation of public space offers its inhabitants a reflection on forgotten history and introduces a new point of orientation on both the physical and mental map of monuments in the city of Žilina.
